Café del Mar Music - The Balearic journey starts

If you have not yet herd the warm and sultry beats of Café del Mar yet, you are in for a treat. Imagine sitting next to the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean, sipping on a cocktail on a warm and cozy night. The gentle breeze in your hair and the music is just right. This is the magic of Café del Mar music. A style of music that is occasionally referred as a genre by some when in actuality the music is comprised of smooth jazz, lounge, downtempo, chill and electronic elements to name few.

It all started with the bar of the same name in Ibiza spinning fab tracks which garnered the attention of tourists with its trendy vibes. The man behind the whole Café del Mar music scene was José Padilla who joined the bar as DJ in 1991. Compiling the first Café del Mar album in 1994, the music caught on like wildfire. It must be noted that José Padilla is no longer the resident DJ at the bar. However, the owner of the Café del Mar bar created his own record label by the same name in 1999. Café del Mar music has been turning out great music to this day with a compliment DJ's that have continued to capture the ambience of Café del Mar in their compilations.
