Help with Dyslexia - The New Evidence

Updated: May 29, 2020

Recently, I had a conversation with a mother of a Dyslexic child. The topic came up during a causal conversation. Eventually, the conversation drifted towards her frustrations dealing with situations where her dyslexic child was feeling a sense of inadequacy at school because she could not keep up with her peers. The mother of this child was worried that her daughter would grow up feeling lesser of herself. Due to the lack of support around her the mother was of the opinion that her child's future was going to be bleak. Unfortunately, I could not contribute any sound advice to lift her spirits as I was not well versed in the subject. Several months past by and I happened to bump in to the same lady once again. This time her demeanor was much more upbeat. Naturally, I asked if anything had changed since we last met. She told me that she had learned so much about her child's condition and also found out her daughters strength which is her innate ability as an artists. This gave her hope that not every one is good at everything and dyslexic children like all children may actually be very good somethings more than others. She said that parents need to have hope and help the child find his/her strength and direction in life. I was elated in hearing this; I asked her is there any specific event that was a turning point for her and she pointed me to this brilliant book by Brock L Eide M.D and Fernette F. Eide. Their book "The Dyslexic Advantage: Unlocking the Hidden Potential of the Dyslexic Brain" had been of immense help in charting the the future of her daughter. I have included a link below.
